S.T.R.O.N.G. Youth, Inc. is a youth, family and community development organization specializing in youth and gang violence prevention and intervention.
S.T.R.O.N.G. Youth, Inc. was founded on June 14, 2000 in response to the brutal murder of Uniondale resident Eric Rivera, by alleged gang members. Eric is just one name amongst millions affected by gang violence yearly across our nation. S.T.R.O.N.G. was the first youth- driven, multi-ethnic organization incorporated December 5, 2000 to address the issue of gang violence and work towards educating youth on the perils of such a lifestyle.
S.T.R.O.N.G. is dedicated to ending youth and gang violence. S.T.R.O.N.G. promotes positive values through youth empowerment programs and collaborative initiatives, which provide youth and their families with tools to improve their lives, their communities, and to create societal change.
The proliferation of youth and gang related violence in small and large cities across the nation has led to a tremendous need of educating and assisting youth, adults, families, and communities in the prevention of gang involvement and juvenile delinquency. Through cooperative working relationships, S.T.R.O.N.G. serves as a liaison between law enforcement agencies, community organizations, clergy, school administrations, parents and our children. We educate youth on alternatives to street life, and the reality they will face if they continue on the same precarious path. Through schools, community events or activities; we relay our message of respect, love and unity to youth.
