Olivia lldefonso

Board Member

Olivia Ildefonso is currently a Ph.D. candidate in human geography at the City University of New York Graduate Center. Her research explores forms of structural racism in the suburbs, with a particular focus on Long Island, NY. Fred Brewington, Esq.

Board Member

Raised in Lakeview, Long Island, Fred Brewington is a respected lawyer and community advocate with a distinguished legal career. After working at a number of prestigious firms and law offices, including a clerkship at the Office of the Legal Counsel of the United States Senate, Fred Brewington began a private practice in New York City and Long Island. With his expertise in civil rights litigation, Fred has successfully challenged the 'at large' voting system in the Town of Hempstead and worked on preventing future unconstitutional and discriminatory purging of voters from the voting roll. Through litigation, writing and lecturing, Fred continues to challenge other discriminatory practices throughout Long Island and the New York area. Read Full Bio Here...

Dr. Laura Lee Lustbader

Board Member

Laura Lee Lustbader is a lifelong educator, retired from her last position of twenty years with the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Nassau County (Nassau BOCES). During her tenure at BOCES, her work focused on and addressed the needs of students and families who, for the most part, live in Long Island’s “high needs” communities and attend struggling schools. Her main areas of interest were parent-child early education (birth-age five years), the education of children who are homeless, and substance abuse, violence prevention, and social/emotional skills development with students and staff.
