S.T.R.O.N.G. Girlz & Boyz
Support groups
The STRONG Boyz and Girlz program are multi-phased male/female-only supportive, educational and recreational groups for youth ages 11-15. Participants discuss the issue of violence as they pertain to males & females while also addressing topics such as teen pregnancy, anger management, peer pressure, etc.
The STRONG Boyz and Girlz program combine time-tested elements such as social emotional skill building, service learning projects, and mentoring, to provide “at risk”* students the skills and education they need to make positive decisions, become productive agents of change in their community and discourage participation in a violent lifestyle and gang involvement.
*Youth at risk of being failed by one or more adults or adult-driven system or institutions. (http://www.cyc-net.org/today2001/today010824.html)
